Imagining a Mario & Pikmin Crossover

As a lifelong Nintendo fan, my mind often wanders to crossover ideas for a shared Nintendo gaming universe. One such idea is for a Mario and Pikmin Crossover. Now let’s dive into what this game could look like!

The Premise

Our adventure begins with Olimar and Alph on an intergalactic expedition with Pikmin in tow. They end up crash landing in the Mushroom Kingdom. Mario and Luigi are enjoying a peaceful day when they stumble upon the stranded explorers and their Pikmin companions and offer to assist them repair their ship and return home. Meanwhile, Bowser is up to his old tricks. He takes advantage of the Pikmin, incorporating them into his Koopa Troop.

Four Playable Characters

  1. Mario
  2. Luigi
  3. Olimar
  4. Alph

Six Worlds

We’d need a diverse set of worlds, blending the iconic elements of both franchises.

  1. Grassland World
  2. Snow World
  3. Desert World
  4. Beach/Ocean World
  5. Sky World
  6. Bowser’s World

Gameplay Fusion

The core gameplay would revolve around switching between the four playable characters, each bringing their unique abilities to the table. Mario and Luigi would handle the platforming and direct, while Olimar and Alph would command the Pikmin to solve puzzles. Pikmin would be incorporated into Mario and Luigi’s platforming. For example, Purple Pikmin would improve their ground-pounds, and Winged Pikmin would give their jumps extra air-time.

Bowser’s Botanical Brigade

Bowser, in his relentless pursuit of power, wouldn’t just be capturing Peach this time. He’d be experimenting with the Pikmin, creating monstrous hybrid creatures and wielding their abilities for his own nefarious purposes.
