My Top 10 Favorite Fighters Introduced in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate!

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is a celebration of gaming history, and with its massive roster of 65 veteran fighters and 24 newcomers, everyone has their personal favorites. Today, I’m sharing my ten favorite newcomers!

10. Isabelle

Starting the list is the surprisingly potent Isabelle. She’s the perfect underdog character for players who love to frustrate and outwit their opponents.

9. Daisy

No longer stuck to the sports and Mario Party games, Daisy joining Smash was exciting. She’s an echo fighter of Peach, and a great example of what echo fighters can be. Like Peach, she has a fun play style.

8. Dark Samus

I love the aesthetic and slightly different feel of Dark Samus compared to Samus. As an Echo Fighter, they share moves, but their floatier movement and the distinct look of their attacks make them distinct.

7. Incineroar

The latest Pokemon to join Smash, Incineroar is a blast to play. Incineroar is a heavyweight grappler with powerful attacks. Timing grabs and revenge counters are extremely satisfying.

6. Sephiroth

The villain from Final Fantasy VII joins Cloud in Smash. Sephiroth has an incredible range with his massive sword, allowing him to control space like few others. Like Cloud, he is also just really cool.

5. Ridley

The inclusion of Ridley, Samus’s archnemesis, was huge. Fans have been begging for his inclusion for years. His Skewer (Down B) is one of the most satisfying moves to land, and his intimidating presence makes every fight feel epic.

4. King K. Rool

Ultimate did not skimp on the villains. King K. Rool is another iconic Nintendo villain that had not appeared in years. All of his appearances have been adapted into his move set perfectly, and his expressions are hilarious.

3. Inkling

Adding Inkling to smash was a no-brainer. The Smash newcomer from Splatoon is a blast to play. Inkling’s unique mechanic of covering opponents in ink to increase their damage taken is brilliant and adapted from Splatoon expertly.

2. Banjo & Kazooie

The nostalgia is strong with this duo! Banjo & Kazooie bring their classic N64 charm and a toolkit full of effective, tricky moves. Their Wonderwing (Side B) is an excellent move, and their Egg projectiles are perfect for zoning. As a fan of their games, them being in smash was a dream come true.

1. Sora

There’s no debate for me. Sora takes the top spot. Kingdom Hearts is one of my favorite series, so his inclusion was the dream culmination of the inclusion of non-Nintendo characters in Smash. Playing as him just feels right. He has many of his outfits from his games. His aerial mobility and floatiness allow for some stylish combos, and his magical attacks are fantastic for both pressure and recovery.

That’s my list! Whether you agree or disagree, in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, there is a character for everyone. Who are your favorite fighters? Let me know in the comments!
