A First Look at “Fiction Variance Authorities”

I’ve been dreaming up a show that mashes together different stories, and I finally sat down to outline the first six episodes. If you love chaotic crossovers, this is for you.

The Premise

When fictional stories go wrong or fictional universes collide, who fixes them? The F.V.A. (Fiction Variance Authority) is a bureaucratic organization tasked with capturing characters who have wandered into or created the wrong story.

Meet the Characters

CharacterRoleVibe
Stuart the MinionField AgentOne of the numerous variant minions from Despicable Me. Accidentally efficient.
Dr. Neo CortexField AgentA variant of the canon Cortex from Crash Bandicoot. Distressed by being forced to join the FVA.
ObiousSupervisorAn original FVA character. Trying to run a professional operation.
VortexRogue VariantAnother Cortex variant, but somehow more dramatic and has better hair. An antihero.
Tom the JudgeJudge of FictionAn original FVA character. He is serious and bossy.

Episode Guide: Season 1

Episode 1

Cortex finally defeats Crash Bandicoot, but because of that he is taken by the FVA. He meets Obious and Stuart and becomes an FVA agent.

Episode 2

Cortex, Stuart, and Obious take on some FVA assignments. They help a WALL-E variant who never made it onto the Axiom, a variant Polar Express that crashed before it could make it the North Pole, and a Dr. Strange who never lost use of his hands and therefore never became a sorcerer.

Episode 3

The team has to capture a Jar Jar Binks variant. The variance? He’s actually a genius bounty hunter. Cortex has to keep a hiccup on the mission secret from Tom the Judge, who is currently auditing the agents.

Episode 4

Cortex meets Vortex, his counterpart from another fiction. Vortex tries to take over the F.V.A., leading to a narcissistic showdown.

Episode 5

Tom the Judge threatens to terminate the entire F.V.A. division. To save their jobs, the team must prove themselves.

Episode 6

The team is finally summoned to the top floor to meet The Person Who Remains.

Final Thoughts

This is the show I need in my life right now. It’s silly, it’s high-stakes, and it is an epic crossover of infinite scale.
